Volunteer - Board & Committees
Believers in our mission to get school supplies into the hands of kids who need them can volunteer to become members of the Board of Directors or one of the committees assigned to help guide the efforts of the Kids In Need Foundation staff.
Candidates for the Board are nominated by other Board members and staff and are elected to the Board by a vote of its members. Board members serve three-year terms and meet three times a year, usually in Columbus, OH. Kids In Need prides itself on having a working Board. That is, besides providing guidance and leadership, Board members are often instrumental in the execution of projects that support our mission. Every Board member is asked to serve on at least one committee.
The committees of the Kids In Need Foundation oversee activities in the following areas: finance; fundraising; the National Network of Resource Centers; public relations; and the Teacher Grants program. Besides Board members, committees are made up of individuals who have an expressed interest in the Foundation’s mission and are invited by the executive director to serve on a committee.
