Our organization is all about school supplies changing lives. We focus on distributing school supplies to teachers and students who are in some of the most challenged communities across the country. In our 25 years, we have distributed more than $1 billion in supplies to kids who would otherwise go without.
The Kids In Need Foundation’s mission is to ensure that every child is prepared to learn and succeed in the classroom by providing free school supplies nationally to students most in need.
The Kids In Need Foundation partners with Resource Centers across the country where teachers go to get school supplies for their students. Please contact your child’s school and connect with the school social worker.
Teachers from schools not serviced by the National Network of Resource Centers are encouraged to apply for Classroom Supply Boxes, more information is available on SupplyAClassroom.org. Applications are available in the summer, in time for the school year. Be sure to connect with KINF on social media @KidsinNeed to find out when the applications become available.
While we know there is a great need for school supplies in many parts of the world, our foundation only serves students in the continental United States where the need is still so great. We suggest reaching out to World Vision, one of our partner organizations, for help with international assistance.
Each Resource Center has their own way of distributing school supplies. Please contact the Resource Center closest to you to see if supplies may be available.
We could not do what we do every day without our generous donors who keep our shelves fully stocked with core supplies. Donations of inventory or surplus supplies may be eligible for tax relief and we are happy to discuss discontinued product, excess inventory, and product donation partnerships. Be sure to fill out our product donation form and adhere to our donation guidelines. If you are interested in donating smaller quantities, in boxes up to 50lbs, free shipping may be available, thanks to our partnership with Zappos For Good.
We happily encourage school supply drives and offer support through best practices, printable poster and banner ideas. Check out our School Supply Drive Toolkit if you need help getting started. At this time, however, we are not able to provide supplies directly to you, as our school supplies are delivered directly to teachers and schools through our existing programs.
The School Ready Supplies program is tailored for organizations interested in conducting school supply giveaways in their communities and have either the funding available or sponsors. Programs start at $2,500 They are pre-assembled and can be delivered anywhere within the continental United States. Learn more about our backpack programs here.
The Kids In Need Foundation partners with our National Network of Resource Centers and directly with schools and school districts to distribute supplies.
The Resource Centers mostly serve schools in their local communities where 70% or more of the kids are on a federal nutrition program. Please check to see if there is a Resource Center in your area that supports your school.

The Kids In Need Foundation operates four key programs to help facilitate our efforts so that all students have access to quality school supplies to learn and succeed.
National Network of Resource Centers: We partner with resource centers across the country to distribute school supplies to children who would otherwise go without.
Second Responder®: Provides school supplies to students affected by natural disasters.
School Ready Supplies: Through community sponsorships this program can provide pre-assembled backpacks filled with essential school supplies or deliver bulk supplies to host backpack building events.
Classroom Supply Boxes: Studies show that teachers spend an average of $564 per year of their own money to help kids whose families just can’t afford the required materials. Our SupplyAClassroom.org program provides successful applicants with two boxes containing roughly $500 in the most essential school supplies and gives donors a way to directly support classrooms in their community.
Our products are distributed between our National Network of Resource Centers, which mostly serves students in challenged communities where 70% or more of the kids are on a federal nutrition program and through our Second Responder Program, that provides school supplies to students affected by natural disasters.
Thank you so much for wanting to learn more about how to donate. We know school supplies change lives. Just $25 provides a backpack full of supplies to a student in need. Donating is easy and can all be done securely on our website.
