Kimber Bermudez

Surprising an Entire School with School Supplies on Good Morning America

We pulled off surprising first grade teacher, Kimber Bermudez and her entire school with brand new backpacks and school supplies! This surprise kept us busy the last few weeks as we worked through the logistics of pulling off this incredible surprise. After many phone calls to Good Morning America, Carlos Fuentes School, JOANN, Georgia-Pacific, BIC USA, Scholastic, Thirty-One Gifts, and our Teacher Resource Center in Chicago, we had a plan.

After packing the product, the trucks were sent to our Resource Center in Chicago, where volunteers helped sort the product and get it into trucks. We could not have pulled off this surprise without them.

Behind the Scenes

By 3 a.m. on September 13th we were ready and awake at the Carlos Fuentes School. Good Morning America was already setting up their equipment and we were getting all of the supplies ready to give to students.

By 6 a.m. students and parents were arriving and getting their backpack filled with school supplies. The excitement was building and everyone was getting anxious to surprise Ms. Bermudez.

By 7:30 a.m. the surprise was about to be revealed. Good Morning America host, T.J. Holmes, was given the go to surprise Ms. Bermudez in her staff meeting.

Surprising Students

The Big Surprise

Unbeknownst to Ms. Bermudez, her entire student body and parents were out in the parking lot of her school. All the students had new Thirty-One Gifts Backpacks and the teachers had brand new personalized lunch bags.

When Ms. Bermudez didn’t think the surprise could get any better. It did. Two trucks filled with school supplies drove into the parking lot. Inside was three tons of paper, 133,000 crayons, 33,000 yards of tape, 6,000 glue sticks, 5,000 books, and more!
