Kids In Need Foundation’s SupplyATeacher.org selected as a State Farm Neighborhood Assist® Top 200 Finalist

Minneapolis, Minn. (Sept. 25, 2020) – Kids In Need Foundation’s SupplyATeacher.org is one of 200 finalists for the State Farm Neighborhood Assist® grant. Forty winners will receive a $25,000 grant from State Farm® to help improve their community. Starting today, U.S. residents who are 18 and older with a valid email address can vote for KINF at https://www.neighborhoodassist.com/entry/2034270.

KINF has until October 2 at 11:59pm ET to rally votes and anyone voting is allowed up to 10 votes per day. On November 4, the top 40 vote-receiving causes will be announced at www.neighborhoodassist.com and a $25,000 grant will be awarded to each of the affiliated nonprofits.

If chosen, KINF would allocate the grant towards funding teachers on the SupplyATeacher.org platform in the Twin Cities who have requested supplies. Those 213 students serve over 5,000 students in the Twin Cities community.

KINF’s annual educator survey of 9,000 teachers in our network revealed that teachers spend between one and two paychecks each year on supplies for our classroom.

“We hope our supporters will vote early and often for KINF to receive a State Farm Neighborhood Assist® grant,” said Corey Gordon, CEO of KINF. “We are hopeful we will have the opportunity to support teachers and students in our backyard. In the Minneapolis school district alone, 65% of students live in poverty. Providing school supplies to students who need them the most prepares them to learn when they enter the classroom – whether in person or remotely.”

State Farm Neighborhood Assist® is a crowd-sourced philanthropic initiative that empowers communities to identify issues in their neighborhoods The State Farm Review Committee selected the top 200 finalists from 2,000 submissions.
