MINNEAPOLIS – September 27, 2016 – The Kids In Need Foundation (KINF) has partnered with Colgate Bright Smiles, Bright Futures® (BSBF) to mark the global oral health program’s 25th anniversary by addressing two common learning barriers for school children: poor oral health, and lack of school supplies. As part of Colgate’s celebratory ‘25 Days of Smiles’ campaign, Colgate will donate 500,000 oral care products to The Kids In Need Foundation. Colgate has also teamed up with Hall of Fame professional boxer and television personality Laila Ali, who will help raise awareness and support of KINF’s mission to provide school supplies to underserved students by championing a social fundraising campaign beginning September 22 through October 31.
“Across the United States, 16 million kids are struggling with extreme poverty,” said Dave Smith, executive director, The Kids In Need Foundation. “Receiving basic necessities such as paper, pencils, markers, toothbrushes, and toothpaste can alleviate stress on families, and help students feel confident and excited to attend school.”
Colgate will promote the importance of giving students the tools they need to succeed this school year and encourage others to join the cause. KINF supporters can participate by:
- Tweeting a #TBT school picture with the hashtag #SmileforPictureDay
- Follow @ColgateBSBF on Twitter, and share your #TBT school picture using #SmileforPictureDay (For every photo shared between September 22 and October 31, Colgate will donate $1 to The Kids In Need Foundation.)
- Purchase Colgate Kids products at Walgreens. For every Colgate® Kids oral care product purchased at a participating Walgreens between August 28 and October 1, Colgate will donate $1 to KINF.
“Picture day is an iconic tradition that marks a new year of learning and special milestones,” said Dr. Marsha Butler, Vice President of Global Oral Health and Professional Relations, a dentist who oversees the Bright Smiles, Bright Futures™ program for Colgate-Palmolive. “By making sure children have the tools they need to succeed in the classroom, scheduling dental checkups and promoting healthy habits at home, we can help them feel good about themselves and the school year ahead.”
