Pencils for Pula wanted to become part of the Kids Helping Kids Ambassadorship program because this amazing organization aligns with the Pencils for Pula (PFP) mission.  PFP was created in April of 2020 after a service trip to the Galaletsang Primary School in Gaborone, Botswana.   

During our 2020 spring break; I (Straus) attended a school service trip to Botswana and South Africa.  While in Botswana I volunteered at the Galaletsang Primary School in Gaborone and saw groups of kids sharing one pencil. Ever since that day, I have tried to think of ways to change that. With the help of my family and friends, I founded Pencils for Pula. 

During a virtual fundraiser, I was introduced to the important Kids in Needs Foundation and was deeply saddened to learn how many students and teachers in America don’t have enough school supplies. The team of PFP ambassadors Donia, Devin, Lauren, and myself wanted to expand our efforts and collect pencils for the Kids and Needs Foundation.
