For students to thrive in the classroom, they need more than pencils, notebooks, and other essential supplies. They need to feel supported, included, and confident that they belong.
Sabrina, a social worker supporting students in her community, sees firsthand how circumstances outside the classroom can affect a child’s experience at school.
“My primary goal is to support the students,” Sabrina shares. “Geographically and economically, our students are at a disadvantage. I try to create a community so no child feels left out or singled out.”
That sense of belonging can make a meaningful difference. When students have access to the same essential learning supplies as their classmates, it helps remove a visible barrier to participation. Instead of worrying about what they don’t have, students can focus on learning, connecting with their peers, and being part of their classroom community.
At Kids In Need Foundation, we believe every child deserves equal access to the tools and resources they need to learn. By working alongside educators, social workers, schools, and community partners, we help get essential school supplies into the hands of students who need them most.
Because a backpack filled with supplies can provide more than tools for the classroom—it can help a student walk through the school doors feeling prepared, included, and ready to learn.
Every day, teachers show up for their students with passion, creativity, and dedication—but too many of them are doing it without the supplies they need to create the learning environments their students deserve. No teacher should have to choose between giving their students the best education possible and paying out of pocket for basic classroom materials.
You can help change that!
At Kids In Need Foundation (KINF), we believe every student deserves equal access to the resources needed for a quality education. We work to foster equitable learning spaces by providing essential supplies to under-resourced students and teachers nationwide, focusing on schools where 70% or more of students qualify for free or reduced-price meals through the National School Lunch Program.
