Teachers and students at Marked Tree Elementary School in Arkansas got a timely boost this week, thanks to a generous donation from the Kids in Need Foundation (KINF). The nonprofit delivered 19 teacher supply boxes, each containing 24 sets of classroom essentials, ensuring both staff and students are fully equipped for the year.
Teacher supply kits are one of the 4 programs KINF provides for teachers in addition to their Nation wide network of teacher resource centers, where teachers can come and shop for their classrooms completely free.
Teachers at a local elementary school are getting a little extra help this week thanks to a national nonprofit. Reporter Ja’Terrica Wilson shows us how a special delivery has made a big difference for classrooms in this small town.
“It’s helping out because, like I said, we’re replenishing some stuff, getting some things we didn’t have that we’re getting now,” said Routon. “And it will help us out as we go throughout the year — and even some things that may carry over for us and helping our students that may not have things that they need.”
Rebekah Routon, third- and fourth-grade literacy teacher, said the timing could not have been better.

No teacher should have to choose between giving their students the best education possible and paying out of pocket for essential classroom materials. That’s where Kids in Need Foundation steps in. Every Teacher Supply Box provides the essential tools teachers need to inspire young minds. Whether you support a single teacher, an entire school, or a full district, your impact is immediate and lasting. Each teacher receives two large boxes filled with enough core supplies to support a classroom for at least one semester, including: pencils, erasers, notebooks, folders, copy paper, markers and glue sticks. For the younger grades they include pencil pouches, crayons and scissors. And for our teachers that teach older students they include pens, hand sanitize, highlights, lysol wipes, sticky notes and colored pencils
When we support educators, we empower entire communities—because every child deserves a future built on opportunity, not obstacles. Join us in making a difference. Donate today and help us give teachers the resources they need to keep inspiring, creating, and believing in their students.
Kids In Need Foundation helps create equitable learning spaces through the distribution of supplies and resources, investing in teachers and students in underserved schools. With the belief that every child in America should have equal opportunity and resources to engage in a quality education, Kids In Need Foundation focuses its programs and initiatives on teachers and students most under-resourced, those where 70 percent or more of the enrolled students are eligible for free or reduced-cost meals through the National School Lunch Program. In 2023, through its programs, National Network of Resource Centers, and coast-to-coast local partners, Kids In Need Foundation and our national network supported over 4 million students and 200,00 teachers in 13,000 under-resourced schools, with KINF distributing more than $42 million in free school supplies and classroom resources nationwide at no cost to schools or teachers.
