Habbaspilaw School Supply Drive
At the Law Offices of Samer Habbas & Associates (Habbaspilaw), we hold academics at a high standard of importance and believe every child deserves the opportunity to obtain an education. However, education comes at a cost, which has been personally fronted by underpaid educators on numerous occasions.
In the United States 94% of public school teachers reportedly dip into their own funds to pay for class supplies. Earlier in 2019, the Internal revenue Service (IRS) amended a bill that would slightly ease that burden by offering a $250 tax break to teachers who spent their own money on classroom supplies. But that isn't nearly enough as California teachers spend an average of $886.
Habbaspilaw is proud to partner with Kids In Need Foundation (KINF) to help support our fellow public school educators in their efforts to give our children access to a quality education. The Habbaspilaw School Supply Drive is connected directly to KINF's Supply A Teacher initiative; every $225 raised provides a teacher with 2 huge boxes of supplies, enough for 24 students for over a full semester. Many people hit financial hardship as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. With education budget cuts following the virus outbreak, teachers are faced with more injustice. Teachers are the biggest contributing factor to a student's success, yet they are undervalued in America's education system.
Now is the time to come together as a community! Please join the Habbaspilaw team in our efforts to give back and make an impact on the lives of under-resourced students.
