Kids In Need Foundation is the only national nonprofit focusing on the nation's most under-resourced schools: those where 70 percent or more of the enrolled students are eligible for free or reduced-cost meals through the National School Lunch Program.
Kids In Need Foundation helps create equitable learning spaces through the distribution of supplies and resources, investing in teachers and students in underserved schools. Promoting equity in schools is an invaluable social investment that gives children a deeper perspective and knowledge about the world around them and empowers them to make wise decisions for their future.
Because Education Matters
A quality education is the best gateway to opportunity and provides greater possibilities for students to achieve their full potential.
Education provides immense value to all individuals: career options, socialization, and a broadened perspective on oneself, their peers, and the world around them. Learning is a lifelong endeavor that is reinforced as students continue to grow.
Because Dignity Matters
It is crucial to champion the inherent dignity of kids and the quality experiences they can have throughout education.
School supplies and resources matter because they represent belonging and ownership of a student's education and a teacher's career. They empower underestimated students to recognize that they have choices and to make choices for themselves and their futures. For teachers facing rooms full of students struggling to break the cycle of poverty, supplies level the playing field so all students are prepared to learn when the bell rings.
Teachers Shepherd Our Future
When teachers are well-supported and appreciated, they have the ability to unlock the future potential of our nation: our children.
Teachers have a daily influence on tomorrow's leaders and are the key to unlocking a student's potential. They touch our society at every level and their impact can leave a legacy across several generations.
"Thank you for the wonderful donation of supplies for my classroom. The school is a Title 1 building and many students did not bring school supplies. Shared supplies were sanitized daily. The school supplies were distributed to every student. They were so excited and wanted to use them right away, especially the hand sanitizer. Kids In Need Foundation has given my students motivation to learn." - Ms. Velasquez, Bay City, Mich.
"My school is designated as a priority school, where 100% of students receive free or reduced lunches. Your supplies enable me to help the students stay organized and do fun activities! We recently did a Fall Leaves Review activity, and your colored pencils helped the students create beautiful artwork. I'm excited to use all the sticky notes you gave me to do a gallery walk with students next week. Thank you again for your support!" - Ms. Haug, Chattanooga, Tenn.
"I wanted to say thank you so very much for all the AMAZING donations of school supplies. When we received your boxes I was thrilled to have these materials. Lots of pencils, notebooks, crayons, sharpeners, and glue are JUST what the students need. So much gets used throughout the year, and to be able to have a fresh supply to begin next year is wonderful. Many of our families are in need of supplies and having these available for them will ease their minds. It will also be helpful for any teachers that run low as the year progresses." - Ms. Younce, Mooresville, N.C.
