Chipotle has long been committed to celebrating and supporting teachers, finding meaningful ways to show educators that their dedication is seen and appreciated. In 2025 alone, Chipotle celebrated more than 200,000 teachers and healthcare workers with $2 million in free burritos, bringing its total giving to $16 million since 2016.
That commitment extends to giving guests a way to make an impact, too. Through Round Up for Real Change on Chipotle.com and the Chipotle app, digital guests can round up their order totals to support teachers and students through Chipotle’s partnership with Kids In Need Foundation.
And it all adds up.
Every contribution makes a difference. Every guest who chooses to give becomes part of something larger. Together, those individual acts of generosity have helped raise more than $3 million through the partnership, providing nearly 5,700 teachers and 136,000 students with essential school supplies.
But the impact goes beyond school supplies. It means teachers feeling seen, students feeling prepared, and communities coming together to show educators that their work matters. By combining Chipotle’s longstanding support for educators with the generosity of its guests, thousands of small contributions are adding up to meaningful change for teachers and students across the country.
Educators continue to report that access to essential supplies remains a significant issue.
According to KINF’s Teacher Insight Survey, more than half of students begin the school year without all required supplies. Educators also reported that 64% of students run out of supplies by the second semester and cannot easily replace them.
Those shortages can affect much more than whether a student has a pencil.
More than 95% of educators surveyed said access to supplies is important for student preparedness, interest in learning, class participation, confidence, self-esteem and social engagement.
That provides important context for corporate giving campaigns centered on education. A backpack filled with supplies isn’t simply a collection of products. It can help give a student the tools to participate alongside their classmates from the beginning of the school year.
One of the strengths of a round-up campaign is its simplicity.
Rather than asking customers to take a separate action, brands can integrate giving directly into an existing customer experience.
One person’s contribution may be small. When thousands of customers participate, those individual decisions can collectively support something much larger.
For nonprofit organizations, round-up campaigns can also introduce a mission to an entirely new audience. For corporate partners, they provide an opportunity to invite customers into the company’s community impact work.
The result is more than a transaction. It creates a moment where the customer, company and nonprofit can participate in a shared purpose.
Education has long been part of Chipotle’s community fundraising efforts. Its partnership with KINF created another way to connect that commitment to a national need.
Kids In Need Foundation works to help create equitable learning spaces by providing essential school supplies and resources to teachers and students in under-resourced schools.
Through a round-up activation, Chipotle could make that mission accessible to customers across the country through an action that took only seconds.
That’s what can make point-of-sale and digital round-up fundraising so effective: the barrier to participation is small, but the collective opportunity for impact can be significant.
A round-up campaign can be much more than a donation prompt at checkout. Strong corporate-nonprofit activations connect the fundraising mechanic to a clear story about where the money goes and why the issue matters.
Digital promotion, social media storytelling, employee engagement and impact reporting can extend that story beyond the transaction itself. Most importantly, customers should be able to understand the connection between their participation and the people or communities the campaign supports.
For KINF, that means bringing the story back to teachers and students—and showing what access to essential learning resources can make possible in a classroom.
Corporate philanthropy doesn’t always have to begin with a large one-time contribution.
Sometimes, scalable ideas start with an action customers already take every day.
Round-up campaigns can transform thousands of small moments into collective action while giving brands an opportunity to engage their customers in something bigger.
For companies looking to make an impact in education, Kids In Need Foundation works with corporate partners to develop cause marketing activations that connect business objectives with meaningful support for teachers and students.

At Kids In Need Foundation (KINF), we believe every student deserves equal access to the resources needed for a quality education.
